VaporPak “Risk-Free Trial” — What a Joke

Hello, everyone.

Whilst browsing Facebook, an ad popped up on the right side advertising e-cigs. I was interested, since it was the first time I had seen an advertisement like that, so I took the bait.

What follows is the most pathetic set of web pages I have seen in possibly my lifetime.

Granted, the Jacksonville Times - Health: The Future Of Smoking [1] website that the ad points you to isn't all that bad. Really the only thing that sticks out to me as complete lie is the fact that it states: "They are fully re-chargeable and each E-Cigarette [2] can last a full day on one single charge."

Other than that, all seems fine, and this site is offering a "risk-free trial" of an e-cig to consumers who sign up through the website, and there are quite a few comments below who seem to signify that folks are signing up. HOWEVER, if you notice the fine print at the very bottom of the page:

Quote:

THE STORY DEPICTED ON THIS SITE AND THE PERSON DEPICTED IN THE STORY ARE NOT REAL. RATHER, THIS STORY IS BASED ON THE RESULTS THAT SOME PEOPLE WHO HAVE USED THESE PRODUCTS HAVE ACHIEVED. THE RESULTS PORTRAYED IN THE STORY AND IN THE COMMENTS ARE ILLUSTRATIVE, AND MAY NOT BE THE RESULTS THAT YOU ACHIEVE WITH THESE PRODUCTS. THIS PAGE RECEIVES COMPENSATION FOR CLICKS ON OR PURCHASE OF PRODUCTS FEATURED ON THIS SITE.

Anyone seeing that should immediately be turned off. Why make a fake news story? Just seems sort of stupid.

But, anyway, following the link for the trial, I was offered a 12 day trial of the VaporPak e-cig... which looks no different than any other, really, except they say the cart lasts a full 20 cigs (obviously a lie). But then, you must click on the "Terms" page at the bottom to get more goodies:

Quote:

The 12 day trial period starts on the day you place your order and includes processing and transit time. Upon ordering, you agree to pay the non-refundable $9.95 shipping and handling fees for the trial offer. Unless you call customer support to cancel before the end of the 12 day trial period, you will you be charged a discounted price of only $99.10 automatically. By accepting this Trial, you will also be enrolled in our Cartridges Refill Autoship Program. You will After the 12 days from your trial order date and every 30 days thereafter you will be sent 4 cartridges (1 packs) which equal to 30 day supply (Usage may vary) of Vapor Pak E-Cigarette and the form of payment that you used to order the trial will be billed the Member's Only price of $45.81 which includes the shipping and handling for the monthly supply.

....8-o. In my mind, this sounds like nothing but a scam and WILL turn the unfortunate folks who fall for this crap against e-cigs. Such a shame, really.

"Ironically," the comments on the "news story" are closed due to "spam." :(

Just figured I would share this with everyone, since it caused a bit of... :-x... from me.
